As the host to organize the 23rd National Student Physics Olympiad, Vinh Long University of Technology Education (VLUTE) has left an impression in the hearts of the participating delegations by organizing the competition to ensure safety and quality. In accordance with regulations, information technology is used “smoothly”. In addition, VLUTE students got high achievements, helping the University to win the first prize in the whole group.

Good preparation for the big playground

From April 14 to 17, 2021, the 23rd National Student Physics Olympiad took place at VLUTE. This is a big, national competition and attracts many schools to participate. Therefore, leaders of VLUTE have developed plans, and are ready to create the best conditions for the participating teams.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Hung Phi – Rector of VLUTE said that the organization of the exams was the most important way to ensure safety, confidentiality and compliance with regulations, in which the multiple-choice exam on computers requires the best information technology infrastructure. Therefore, the University decided to invest in a supercomputer system and immediately apply cloud computing technology for this exam, and at the same time assigned a team of lecturers and IT students to write multiple-choice exam software for the contest.

VLUTE is one of the teams that won the first prize in the whole group

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh- Head of Students Olympic Committee, Vietnam Physics Association, in charge of the competition’s expertise, said that the organization of the competitions ensured safety and complied with the given regulations, and the multiple-choice test software of VLUTE ran very well, was full of information. He added that the schools which would organize the competition in the following years could refer to it.

Speaking at the closing session of the contest, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chu Dinh Thuy, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Physics Association, co-head of the Organizing Committee, said that this year’s competition was very special and encountered many difficulties due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, but had the participation of 206 students and 89 lecturers. The contest was a great success and all the work of the contest was well done. Intellectual playground for students

Another very important content is the training of students to participate in the exams. From the 2015-2019 competitions, the university team was in the top 3. Therefore, this year’s exam, as the home team, required more efforts and determination of the students.

After the selection period, 6 students officially would represent the University to participate fully in all 3 parts of the exam including problem solving, multiple choice and experiment. As a result, 6 students excellently won 3 first prizes in multiple-choice exams, 2 first prizes in experimental tests, 2 third prizes in homework problems, helping the University to win the first prize in the whole group. The University was honored to be awarded a certificate of merit by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations for the team with excellent achievements.

This is a playground for students across the country to exchange, study and thereby impress the land of Vinh Long and the people of the West.

For students of the delegations, in addition to demonstrating their professional competence through the contests, this is also an opportunity to exchange among students of different schools as well as learn about the culture and history of the region, visit and experience new things in the Mekong Delta region.
