KOICA VOLUNTEER WITH THE OJT (ON-THE-JOB TRAINING) WEEK AT VLUTE
On February 4, 2020, Vinh Long University of Technology Education (VLUTE) welcomed a volunteer from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to attend the OJT program.
VLUTE representatives consisting of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Hung Phi – Rector, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung – Vice Rector, Dr. Le Hong Ky – Vice Rector and leaders of functional departments and center such as Department of Academic Affairs, Department of Scientific Management and International Cooperation, Center for Foreign Languages warmly welcomed Mrs. Seo So Yeun – KOICA volunteer.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Hung Phi, in recent years, VLUTE and KOICA have always had a lot of cooperation, and this time receiving the volunteer is the University’s honor. Therefore, VLUTE will create the best conditions to help the volunteer during the working process, assign the Center for Foreign Languages and the Department of Scientific Management and International Cooperation to agree on suitable working contents for the volunteer, to help her feel secure when working at VLUTE, especially this OJT program.

At the meeting, the University also introduced some general information about the locality, introduced officers in charge who will support the volunteer in administrative as well as professional work. In addition, the two sides discussed and approved the volunteer work schedule during the OJT week and cooperation activities when the volunteer officially works at the University.
Mrs. Seo So Yeun expressed her interest when working at VLUTE
Mrs. Seo So Yeun said that she was very happy to come to Vietnam and have the opportunity to work at VLUTE. She has taught Korean language and Korean culture to many people in different countries, but she is also looking forward to the help of VLUTE during her time at the University so that she can teach Korean language for its students, especially students studying in the 2+2 joint training program with Tongmyong University.
Close relationship between VLUTE and KOICA
VLUTE has received volunteers in 2016 and 2019 with a working period of 1-2 years, and in order to have the best preparation for this process, each volunteer must undergo through the OJT week for 1 week to learn about culture, activities, customs, working regulations, environment, etc.
KOICA, established in 1991, is an agency specializing in the implementation of grant programs for developing countries including Vietnam. This is a government agency, under the direct management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea. Currently, KOICA is supporting 160 countries around the world and has representative offices in 23 countries. Every year, KOICA sends hundreds of volunteers to many countries to work, including Vietnam. This is one of the regular activities of KOICA, with the aim of transferring technology and sharing experiences, teaching Korean language and contributing to enhancing mutual understanding between the two peoples through the activities of volunteers at localities.
